According to the latest China Customs statistics, the total export value of Chinese metalworking machine tools and accessories totaled US$2.5 billion in the first 11 months of 2007, an increase of 35.2% year on year. For November 2007 alone, it was US$287 million, an increase of 50.2% year on year.
Among the most exported product categories, sawing and cutting machines posted an export volume of 2.46 million units, up 0.3% year-on-year. This corresponded to a value of US$159 million, up 9.9% year-on-year.
CNC horizontal lathes posted an export volume of 6,194 units, corresponding to a value of US$133 million, up 65.9% and 82.9% year-on-year respectively.
As for China's total import value for metalworking machine tools and accessories, a year-on-year drop of 1% was recorded in the first 11 months of 2007. In November alone, a year-on-year increase of 14.5% to US$694 million was recorded.
Vertical machining centers, tools for pressing, stamping or punching, and horizontal machining centers were among the most imported product
categories. For vertical machining centers, the import volume and value were 10,011 units and US$770 million respectively, up 11.6% and 7.3% year-on-year.
For tools for pressing, stamping or punching, the import volume was 4,071 units, down 14.1% year-on-year, corresponding to a value of US$596 million, up 7.2% year-on-year.
With respect to horizontal machining centers, the import volume and value were 1,440 units and US$488 million respectively, up 7.8% and 0.7% year-on-year respectively.
